Credit Unions were established over 100 years ago, as not-for-profit, democratically controlled, member owned cooperatives, existing only to provide affordable financial services to their members. This year, approximately 177 million credit union members around the world will join in celebrating “MY CREDIT UNION: IT BELONGS TO ME!TM”

Join MCU as we celebrate the joy of credit union ownership by referring a friend, co-worker or family member for membership at MCU. They too can have ownership in MCU!

To qualify for membership at MCU, your friend, co-worker has to be:

  • An employee of the City of New York
  • A Federal or State employee who works in the five boroughs
  • A Health Care professional (private or public) working in New York State
  • An employee of an insurance company that offers health related insurance in the State of New York
  • An employee of a private college located in the City of New York or an employee of a private or public college in the counties of Nassau, Suffolk or Westchester
  • An employee of the City of Yonkers
  • A member of certain private industry groups

Your family is also welcome if they are your:

  • Spouse, parents, children, grandchildren, grandparents, and great grandparents–any lineal family member.
  • People who are members of the same household as that of a credit union member! (“Household” means living in the same residence and maintaining a single economic unit).

Retirees are also welcome if:

  • They receive a pension or annuity from one of the organizations that qualify for membership in MCU.
