Nothing says summer in New York City quite like America’s favorite pastime, baseball. MCU is a proud sponsor of many baseball events throughout the summer, including the annual NYPD/FDNY baseball game and Civil Service Nights at Brooklyn Cyclones and Staten Island Yankees games. On Friday, July 24th in front of 4,800 fans at Brooklyn’s Keyspan Park, the NYPD defeated the FDNY by a score of 5-1. The game marked the end of this year’s Municipal Sports Series, which began three years ago to help raise money for charities such as the NY Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund, as well as provide MCU an opportunity to reach out to and interact with members. “The Municipal Sports series gives us the opportunity to be out in the community where our members live and work,” said MCU President and CEO, Kam Wong, “and that’s exactly where we want to be.” Civil Service Nights this year included NYPD, FDNY, EMS, and Sanitation Nights at Brooklyn Cyclones games, and Law Enforcement and FDNY Nights at Staten Island Yankees games. As this year’s Municipal Sports Series comes to an end, look for next year’s games to be bigger and better than ever!
