Municipal Credit Union and the Yonkers Downtown/ Waterfront BID donated three (3) new state-of-the-art Fuel EX 8 Trek bicycles to the Yonkers Police Department. These new Trek bicycles are made from super strong and light weight aluminum alloys and feature a dual suspension system with adjustable shock absorbers and hydraulic brakes.

The new EX 8 bicycles will be used by the Yonkers Police Department to patrol the downtown area of Yonkers. In an October ceremony at Yonkers Getty Square, the three new bicycles were presented to the Police Department where Commissioner Taggart stated, “We’re very proud of the work that the Yonkers Police Department has done to reduce crime, and our bicycle officers are an important part of our efforts. It’s great when members of the business community step up and support our police officers. It’s very appreciated and will go a long way in helping us protect the public.”

In attendance were Yonkers Mayor Philip Amicone, Yonkers Police Commissioner Robert Taggart, Hon. Patricia McDow, Joan Jennings and Ronald Law from the city’s Business Improvement District. Gerard Herrling, Municipal Credit Union Senior Vice President Risk Management/ Corporate Communications, and Edward Montgomery, MCU’s Business Development Manager were also present. The event attracted dozens of area residents, business and civic leaders and received coverage from local media.

MCU is an integral part of the Yonkers community, with a full service branch at 38 South Broadway. We are dedicated and delighted to be able to help the community. Mayor Amicone said it best: “These officers do a great job for us here, and they really deserve the best equipment. Now they have it.”
