MCU Advocates for members at 2018 NYSABPRL Caucus in Albany

MCU Board Members and Staff spent their President’s Day weekends in Albany, meeting with state officials and advocating for legislation that helps credit unions and their members at the 2018 New York State Association of Black and Puerto Rican Legislators’ annual Caucus Weekend. The weekend was filled with various events and educational sessions geared towards discussing legislation that both the Assembly and State Senate will be pursuing this session, and MCU was on hand to vocally support a variety of key legislative issues for the Credit Union industry.

In addition to their lobbying efforts, MCU Member Relations team members were on hand meeting with members who made the trip up from New York City to attend the events and celebrations, providing giveaways to attendees and meeting with leaders from New York City unions and agencies. MCU also sponsored an educational session and luncheon on mental health organized by State Senator Jesse Hamilton - who is the Chair of the New York State Senate Banks Committee - and Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre.

“MCU’s participation in Caucus Weekend is part of our overall goals of being an active partner with our members and the communities in which they work and live” said Vice President of Public Relations Michael Mattone. “The combined efforts of our Board members and staff in pursuing legislative solutions for member and institutional needs is an important part of our operations. We are pleased to work with them and help them give back to the members of their communities, many of whom are our members.”
