We’ve proudly served the working people of New York City since we opened our doors on October 15, 1916. MCU is the first New York State credit union to celebrate 100 years of service.
We’ve come a long way from when we were chartered in 1916 by New York City Mayor John Purroy Mitchell in order to help city employees save at reasonable rates and have access to low cost borrowing. We started with only 10 charter account holders with combined deposits of just $570. Today we proudly have more than 400,000 members and more than $2.4 billion in assets.
