MCU Hikes the Hill at the 2017 New York Credit Union Association’s Governmental Affairs Conference

Members of the MCU Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee and staff joined credit union leaders throughout New York State to “hike the hill” in Albany for the 2017 New York Credit Union Association Governmental Affairs Conference (NYCUA GAC), held on Monday, April 24 and Tuesday, April 25. NYCUA GAC brings credit union advocates together with members of the New York State Senate and Assembly in order to work towards legislation that would positively affect the more than 368 New York credit unions and their 5.3 million members.

This year Municipal Credit Union met with legislators representing districts across the five boroughs in order to discuss important issues including the Banking Development District Program, municipal and state deposits, and funding for the New York State Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund.

Legislators met with during NYCUA GAC included State Senator Jeff Klein, State Senator Gustavo, State Senator Roxanne Persaud and Assemblyman Robert Rodriguez and Assemblywoman Tremaine Wright.

“As one of the largest credit unions in New York State, MCU is proud to participate at the annual NYCUA GAC,” said MCU Vice President of Public Relations and Corporate Communications Mike Mattone, who is also a Trustee of NYCUA’s CULAC/CUPAC Committee. “The continued support we receive from our legislators in Albany is proof that the Credit Union Movement is growing and thriving. We look forward to our working with them in the future to enact policy that positively impacts our more than 400,000 members and the millions of credit union members throughout the state.”
