MCU Honors Deputy Commissioner DiRico as Most Valuable New Yorker

Municipal Credit Union proudly recognized New York City Department of Sanitation Deputy Commissioner Rocco DiRico as a Most Valuable New Yorker at the St. John’s University basketball game on Saturday, January 14, 2017.

The MCU Most Valuable New Yorker program was created to recognize the hard-working men and women of New York City who selflessly go above and beyond to make New York a better place to work and live. Individuals who display dedication to service and their community through their efforts are selected to be honored by MCU so that other New Yorkers can be inspired by their story. MCU honors Most Valuable New Yorkers at various events throughout the city, including St. John’s University Basketball games, CUNY Athletics events, and Brooklyn Cyclones games held at MCU Park.

“We’re very proud to recognize Deputy Commissioner DiRico as a Most Valuable New Yorker,” said MCU Vice President of Business Development/Member Relations Corey Fernandes. “His dedication to the New York City Sanitation Department and our city is truly admirable and we are deeply appreciative of his service.”

DiRico, a 37-year veteran of the New York City Department of Sanitation, helps to keep our city great by overseeing the Agency’s Support Services Division, which consists of The Bureau of Motor Equipment (BME) and The Bureau of Building Maintenance (BBM). As Deputy Commissioner, DiRico strives to lead by example and aims to create a New York City to take the lead on transportation, infrastructure, and related environmental issues that can be adopted as a standard model across the nation.

“At work and in my personal life, I really do enjoy helping others,” said DiRico. “I also believe that the position I hold here in DSNY and the comradery that we have in the Department encourages all of us to help each other.”
