MCU Hosts First Installment of the 2016 Youth Baseball/Softball Clinic Series

More than 80 children ages 7-14 participated in the first installment of the Third Annual MCU Youth Baseball Clinic held at MCU Park in Coney Island before the Brooklyn Cyclones baseball game on June 20, 2016.

Players from the Cyclones volunteered their time to coach participants in drills on fielding, running, throwing, batting and injury prevention/stretching. Each participant also received four tickets to that evening's Brooklyn Cyclones play the Tri-City Valley Cats at MCU Park to enjoy with their families.

“It’s always great to see kids and their families from throughout the area come to enjoy our youth baseball/softball clinic series each summer,” said MCU AVP of Public Relations Michael Mattone. “The program has been one of our most successful community outreach initiatives in recent years and we’re very proud to be able to offer such a special, family-friendly opportunity to our fellow New Yorkers!”

In addition to taking the field for some summer fun with the Cyclones, participants were treated to Michael Conforto bobblehead dolls, which were given out at the entrance of MCU Park before the game in celebration of the former Cyclones player who has gone on to play left field for the New York Mets.

Three additional Baseball/Softball Clinics are scheduled throughout this summer. We look forward to seeing all of our participants there!
