Business Development Officer
Responsibilities
Cultivates relationships with key personnel at existing Select Employer Groups (SEGs) to maintain MCU's position
as a benefit to the company employees through: In-person contacts, On-site presentation to groups, Special
customized promotions, and Participating in orientation sessions and benefits days. Recommends schedules and
coordination of on-site SEG visits, open houses, and other activities designed to boost membership levels at SEGs.
Analyzes individual SEG needs, develops sales strategies and programs to meet those needs and tracks and reports
results. Ensures awareness of and featured in any internal SEG newsletters on a mutually agreed upon basis
throughout the year. Works with SEG liaisons to have MCU added to SEG company websites. Identifies SEGs to
receive targeted mailings and assists in development of marketing pieces and distribution. Conducts employee
meetings to explain membership, services, answer questions and coordinate the enrollment of members.
Manages MCU image (people, booth, exhibit, and signage) at SEGs. Represents MCU at various events including
SEG functions and performs public relations at civic and community events when necessary. Submits weekly call
report to the Manager, Business Development, detailing all contacts made with businesses and organizations.
Prepares quarterly SEG tracking report. Analyzes needs for SEG development area and recommends budget items
to the Manager, Business Development for budget preparation. Assists Manager, Business Development,
in developing annual Business Development plan. Gives product demonstrations (internet banking.) and arranges
for presentations by various subject matter "experts" to stir up interest in credit union products and services.
Requirements
Thorough understanding of credit union products and services. Valid driver's license, good driving record,
access to vehicle. Experience in broad range of promotional and marketing activities. Associates Degree or
equivalent course work preferred. Two years sales experience in either retail marketplace or financial services
institution with demonstrated strong results. Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Positive attitude and highly personable. Strong sales orientation with ability to "close" sales.
Professional appearance and manner. Ability to speak to groups of up to 100 people.
Ability to manage priorities and balance diverse projects. Well organized. Ability to effectively communicate
with all levels of management.
