More than just an academic-related experience, a credited internship at MCU is a great way to explore a career in
the credit union/financial services industry. Interns work alongside staff employees as part of the team,
developing the personal and professional skills that can give them a major advantage in the workplace.
What Interns Do
- Interns generally work 16-24 hours per week for the duration of a given semester in a supportive learning
environment supporting the day-to-day operations of a project or department.
- Internship positions mirror the positions of staff MCU Employees; however, the student intern may neither
displace staff employees nor perform work which, in the absence of the intern, would be performed by
a staff employee.
Internship Benefits
- Networking. Interns interact with our employees beginning on their very first day and may participate in
volunteer activities and company related events.
- Professional Development. Intern's work will be measurable and realistic, and allow them to stretch their
abilities.
Requirements
- Proof of enrollment at an accredited college or business school and eligibility to receive course credit
during the semester in which the student will be interning. This applies to both undergraduate and graduate students.
- The internship must be an integral part of a program authorized by the educational institution in which
the student is enrolled and must be necessary to the student's fulfillment of degree requirements.
- Communication and business acumen.
- Preferable majors include: accounting, economics, finance, information systems, business, communications, or other related disciplines.
Application Procedure
Interested students should forward their resume and cover letter along with a letter from their school
confirming eligibility to receive course credit during the semester in which they would like to intern.
