Members have reported receiving a fraudulent “Account Protection” email message that appears to be coming from MCU. The message tells the recipient that there is a change to their service and a file needs to be downloaded and filled out immediately to protect against unauthorized access to their Municipal Credit Union account. This message is an Identity Theft Scam commonly known as a Phishing scam. If you receive such an email, do not click on any links, download a file or respond to it. Instead, notify MCU immediately.
MCU will never contact you by email, telephone or text message to ask for your personal information (Account Number, PIN Number, Social Security Number, etc). This includes requests for information to update, confirm, reactivate or prevent deactivation of any of your accounts or credit cards. If you think your MCU accounts have been compromised, report it to our Fraud Department by filling out and submitting a Fraud Investigation Form.
