There are reports of emails being sent to credit union members from the taxrefunds@ncua.gov email address. The message notifies members that they were eligible to receive an NCUA refund and directs them to click on a link embedded in the email to submit a refund form. This is an Identity Theft scam. The NCUA does not give tax refunds and you should not follow the link.
Do not respond to unsolicited text messages, email messages or telephone calls that ask for any account information or other private information. Neither MCU nor the NCUA will ever contact you by email, text message or phone call to ask you to update or verify your account information or submit personal information. If you think your MCU accounts have been compromised, report it to our Fraud Department by filling out and submitting a
Fraud Investigation Form.
