Hunger Action Month appeal builds on $225,000 committed in 2026 to help provide more than 500,000 meals

NEW YORK, September 15, 2026 – The MCU Foundation, the charitable arm of Municipal Credit Union (MCU), is calling on its business partners and the public to help New Yorkers facing food insecurity during Hunger Action Month. The September fundraising effort builds on the Foundation’s $225,000 commitment to hunger relief in 2026, helping provide more than 500,000 meals across the city.

The Foundation is seeking additional donations to support hunger relief across the five boroughs, including its work with City Harvest. Access to food is a central part of the Foundation’s mission to help New Yorkers overcome poverty and build lasting financial security.

“It is hard to plan for the future when you are worried about putting food on the table today,” said Kyle Markland, CEO of Municipal Credit Union. “Helping families meet that basic need is part of our commitment to their financial well-being. We are asking our business partners to join us in getting food to more of our neighbors.”

“No New Yorker should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from,” said George Chacon, president of the MCU Foundation. “Through our partnership with City Harvest, the MCU Foundation is proud to turn community support into meaningful action, putting food on tables and helping our neighbors in need.”

Businesses and individuals can support the effort by making a donation here.
