Board Members
James N. Saunders
Secretary-Treasurer
James N. Saunders, Esq., serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Board at MCU, responsible for keeping detailed accounts of Board meetings and overseeing MCU’s operational budget.
He is currently Deputy Commissioner of Health Affairs, Compliance and Quality for the New York City Department of Correction. With over thirty-five years of experience working with municipal agencies in healthcare operations and compliance, he was previously Deputy General Counsel and Chief Health Care Compliance & HIPAA Privacy Officer for the Fire Department of the City of New York.
Prior to joining the Fire Department in 2014, he held multiple executive level operations and compliance positions with New York City Health + Hospitals, rising to the position of First Deputy Corporate Compliance Officer.
James earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. He holds CHC (Certified in Healthcare Compliance), CHPC (Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance) and CHRC (Certified in Healthcare Research Compliance) certifications from the Compliance Certification Board.
