Board Members
Jahmila Edwards
Board Member
Jahmila Edwards is Associate Director for District Council 37, New York City’s largest public employee union, with 150,000 members and 50,000 retirees. She has held this position since 2015.
Prior to DC37, she held several positions within the New York City Department of Education, including Executive Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Chancellor. Previously, she served as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the New York City Public Advocate, Assistant Director for Political Affairs at the Council of School Supervisors & Administrators, prior to which she was Vice President of Operations at the government- and community-relations firm Carl Andrews & Associates, Inc. Previous experience included Special Events Coordinator at the New York International Latino Film Festival; Assistant to the Director, Public Events, Special Projects & Tourism, City of New York, Brooklyn Borough President's Office; and Program Coordinator at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy.
A graduate of the New School, Jahmila also holds a master’s in Labor Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and received the Senior Executives in State & Local Government certificate from the Kennedy School at Harvard University. She is also a co-founder of Stash Queens, a collective that seeks to provide quality cannabis products while creating opportunities for those impacted by the war on drugs.
