MCU Supervisory Committee
Phil Alvarez
Member
Phil Alvarez is a Supervisory Committee Member at MCU, working collaboratively with his team to ensure the credit union operates with the highest ethical standards and in the best interests of its members.
He is the Member Relations Ambassador for the World Trade Center Health Program at the Stony Brook WTC Health & Wellness Program since June of 2022, working for 9/11 Heroes. Prior to this position, he held the position of Director of 9/11 Outreach and Education at the Hansen & Rosasco LLP law firm from 2019-2022. Phil is the brother of the late Luis Alvarez, one of the first responders memorialized in the Never Forget the Heroes: James Zadroga, Ray Pfeifer, and Luis Alvarez Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act. He has been a tireless advocate, alongside his brother, Luis, and others, for those who suffered harm in the September 11th terrorist attacks. Prior to this Phil served 32 years in the Suffolk County Police Department, 25 of which were as a Detective. Phil holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management from C.U.N.Y.-Baruch College.
