MCU Named One of New York’s Best Places to Work by Crain’s 2026
The employee-informed recognition reflects MCU's continued investment in career development, well-being and a workplace culture where people can grow and thrive.
NEW YORK (September 30, 2026) — Municipal Credit Union (MCU), the New York Metro's largest credit union, has been named one of the 2026 Best Places to Work in New York City by Crain's New York Business, recognizing MCU’s commitment to a supportive, inclusive workplace where employees can build meaningful careers and help advance the credit union's mission of serving hard-working New Yorkers.
The program, presented by Crain's New York Business and Best Companies Group, combines an employer questionnaire examining workplace policies, practices and benefits with an employee engagement and satisfaction survey. Best Companies Group analyzes the results to determine the final rankings.
“Being named one of Crain's Best Places to Work in New York City is especially meaningful because the recognition is grounded in the experiences of our employees,” said Kyle Markland, Chief Executive Officer of MCU. “Our team is the foundation of our mission, and we remain committed to creating a workplace where people feel supported, valued and empowered to grow.”
“This recognition reflects the deliberate investments we've made year after year in career development, employee well-being and clear pathways for advancement across the organization,” added Toni-Ann Sforza, MCU's Chief Operating Officer. “We are proud to build an environment where employees can develop meaningful careers, contribute their ideas and see a future for themselves at MCU.”
This commitment has created meaningful opportunities for MCU’s more than 700 employees. As of June 2026, MCU had invested $4.8 million in employee rewards and benefits year to date, reflecting its continued focus on supporting its workforce. That focus is creating tangible opportunities for employees to grow and build long-term careers at MCU. In 2026 alone, employees completed 11,570 hours of training, while more than 70 team members earned internal promotions—demonstrating MCU’s commitment to developing talent, recognizing achievement, and creating meaningful pathways for career advancement. At the same time, employee benefit costs have remained unchanged for two consecutive years, allowing MCU to strengthen its employee offerings without increasing costs to its workforce.
MCU also offers paid leave, an Employee Assistance Program, life and disability insurance, retirement benefits with a company match or contribution, and commuter benefits to support employees’ well-being and financial security.
The recognition adds to MCU's recent workplace honors, including its third consecutive New York's Best & Brightest Companies to Work For distinction and second Cigna Healthy Workforce Gold Designation in 2026, as well as its second consecutive Great Place to Work certification in 2025.
